Protection Services to the Refugee Community
WISE Protection staff works closely with UNHCR Protection Staff in the protection of refugees and asylum- seekers in Ghana . The majority constituency of women and children on the Buduburam settlement brought WISE's attention to this highly vulnerable population. WISE staff is therefore tasked with ensuring protection of refugees as well as providing assistance within the confines of UNHCR's mandate and resources . WISE protection staff conducts regular counselling at the UNHCR offices and the Buduburam settlement is also intensely involved in the Voluntary Repatriation (VOLREP) efforts.
Our protection staff is constantly responding to refugee emergencies, such as sudden influxes caused by the Sudanese and Togolese civil conflicts.
WISE protection team provides services such as interviewing, registration, counselling on the settlement at the UNHCR offices in Accra , voluntary repatriation counselling and child protection and tracing.
