Women's And Juvenile's Unit - A branch of the Ghana Police Depatment
WISE has teamed up with the Ghana police force to strengthen our support network for survivors of violence. WISE has counselors at the WAJU headquarters in Accra to counsel victims who are reporting acts of violence to the authorities. Similarly to WISE, WAJU was created in response to the increase of reports of violence against women and children.
In addition to counseling victims on-site, we have offered sensitization to the police force on the issues of domestic violence and sexual and gender based violence. Victims.Survivors of violence are often in phsycial and psycological pain and because the police are often the first contact for many victims it is essential that they are well trained so there is no further trauma caused to the victims. The WISE/WAJU partnership is a critical factor in fulfilling our vision, to end the cycle of violence.
